Growing old? Sure!
But we're going to do this totally different!

My friends told me about the Goot-the Club and I couldn't wait to be 45 to be able to sign up. Now for years already my friends and I are members. I visit events freqently and hopefully, I will live here one day.

It's been so nice to meet people I admire, that inspire me, that became my friends years ago! I haven't been lonely ever since.

We've been coming here for a few years. After my partner passed away I decided to rent an apartment in de Goot. Now I can join all events, and go to the restaurant and calling it a night, I can just step in the elevator and I'm home.
No more biking back home in the rain to enter an empty house.

In the morning I can choose to stay in my apartment and work, or go down to the breakfast room and read the newspaper, and meet my friends and colleagues.

It keeps me going and keeps my head active. Many of the residents still work in their own profession. It's fantastic to see them exchange idea's and work on new plans!

Since I've been living here I have much more energy, I'm inspired, and I feel worthwhile. We pick each others brain, we exchange idea's and we work together on new plans. Or we just relax and have fun.

My mom lives here for several years now, unfortunately she has been disgnosed with Alzheimers disease. But she does not have
to leave her home, she can stay here with extra care, ánd her friends who all look out for her. She joins lectures, just joined a painting course, and eats at the restaurant. She feels great, and feels nothing is wrong with her. It is amazing!

My parents ended up in a nursery home where the were comforted and taken care off, but they felt put away, and we couldn't take that feeling away. I wish we had had a club/center/community like the Goot back then.

My parents were much older when they couldn't live like they had done all of their lives anymore. First my dad was brought to a nursery home, my mom felt so guilty. On top of that she became so lonely. I think they waited too long, we should have brought them to a fun, lively place with much more care much sooner. But a home like this didn't exist yet.
I have had an exhibition in the Goot some time ago and now came to see a colleagues' work.

I live in the city and love to come here almost weekly to eat or join an event. In the future, when 'I'm older' , I hope I get to live here as well. It is something to look forward to.
